, Ill., on July 27, 1918, he was the son of Julius Jeffrey Lipp and Blanche (Freund) Lipp. Bill attended Culver Military Academy in Indiana and then went on to study at the University of Virginia, where he played football and competed in track and swimming. After enlisting in the army as a first lieutenant, he rose quickly to the rank of lieutenant colonel. A decorated World War II veteran, he fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and as a member of the 11th Armored Division was among the first to liberate the prisoners of the Mauthausen Concentration Camp.

Prestegaard of Lincoln, Neb., in 1946, and shortly thereafter moved to Quincy, Mass., where he founded the Custom Bag and Cover Corp.

h as PTA president for the Quincy schools and was a founder of Quincy Junior College. As a member of Bethany Congregational Church, he served on many committees and spearheaded financial campaigns. With a passion for sports, he followed all of the Boston teams with enthusiasm while maintaining an avid interest in the college football leagues he had come to know as the son of a Big Ten official and inventor of the ten yard marker, the football measuring template, and various officiating stop watches.

Mystic. All who knew Bill loved and respected him deeply. Bill's was a life that was well lived. He was truly a member of the "Greatest Generation." All generations of his family and friends are heartbroken over the loss of their "Dad", their "Grampy", their "Uncle Bill."
